As photographers, the first rule is to have the light source behind you so your subject will be uniformly illuminated. However, as we advance, we see that rules can be broken and sometimes. intentionally so. Backlighting is one of those situations. It is a case in which the light source is actually in from of you illuminating your subject from behind. This creates immense lighting challenges.
