Series Development Course
Create and Finalize a Cohesive, Elaborate, and Professional Body of Work.
The course intends to provide students with:
· Tools and skills of the framework needed to develop a body of work. From conception, struggle, incubation, and problem-solving to elaborate completion.
· A safe and supportive environment for feedback and growth.
· As always, learn a few more Photoshop tips 😉
· A final body of work with a vision statement ready for publication.
The Series Development Course will be limited to a group of 8 people. In each session, you will be personally coached on your project and given guidelines and instructions to progress for the following session. You will have time to present your images, ask questions, and learn from the other students’ submissions and questions. At the end of the course, you will have a curated, refined, and processed complete body of work for your website, gallery showings, exhibition, or for your own enjoyment.
The Series Development Course will address:
We will start with an Intention Statement: What do you want your body of work to be about? (This is not a Vision Statement but more like a proposal for a project. It should help you clarify your thoughts and ideas as you begin working on your portfolio. What are you going to do and how?).
Staying true to your Intention Statement, we will curate images you have and images you will be taking throughout the course that are strong and tell your visual story. As each image tells a story, your series will tell a bigger story.
As we review images, we will be solidifying the concepts and techniques within the realm of photography for executing your artistic vision. Use tools like contrast, tonal range, composition, colour vs. b&w, negative space etc. to convey your story.
Vision - What Story do you want to tell and how to execute that in your images? You will write a well-polished Vision Statement that you can submit to galleries, post on your website, or keep for your own personal use.
You will be seeing a range of various bodies of work from all the different participants so you can expand your creative horizons to learn from your peers.
