Workshop Outline:

Day 1: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm (PST) Online
The Studio Setup and instructions on how to take the image in-camera.
Understanding Smart Objects and interactive exercise.
What makes a great composition? Artistic tips in composite floral arrangements.

Day 2: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm (PST) Online
Learning the ins and outs of creating and assembling the floral composite in Photoshop.
Creating Translucent-Like Floral Images
Advanced post-processing for achieving complex composites.
Working with Textures

Prerequisites:

*Students attending this Workshop should have knowledge of Photoshop: Layers, Adjustment Layers, Masks and the Brush Tool (the material taught in Sharon’s Basic Photoshop Workshop).
**Participants MUST have a computer with Photoshop installed.
***It is highly recommended (yet not necessary) to have the knowledge and be able to use a file management program such as Lightroom or Bridge.

Equipment:

1. Camera with manual mode.
2. Mid-range lens (or macro but not necessary).
3. Tripod (ideally one in which the main stem can rotate horizontally to enable shooting straight down.)
4. Remote Shutter Release
5. Light table at least 12”X12”. I personally purchased this one from Amazon, it is A2, larger than what I found I needed, a size A3 would have sufficed.

  • Nearing the date of the workshop, Sharon will send out an information email with further instructions and practice files to be downloaded onto your computer for use in the workshop.

  • The online workshop will be through Zoom in video conference format. Every participant will be able to see Sharon and her screen as well as share theirs for assistance. Prior to the workshop, Sharon will be sending a Zoom invite and contacting each participant to make sure they are set up with the Zoom program.

  • As this workshop is online, it will require you to be able to handle the use of Photoshop in conjunction with Zoom. You will need to have the basic digital ability to toggle between the two, or know how to have the two displayed on your screen. Working with two screens helps but not necessary.
